Top seven reasons to come to Orientation

In-person Academic Orientation is your opportunity to learn what your experience as a Georgian student will be like. You’ll also learn about program expectations, meet your dean, associate dean, program coordinator and faculty team, and connect with your peers.

Winter 2026 Academic Orientation will be on Monday, Jan. 5 for all campuses (Barrie, Owen Sound, Orillia, Orangeville and online).

Important details for this semester:

  • Barrie Campus: For new students, in-person classes will start at 1 p.m. on Jan. 5, so you can take the morning to enjoy all the Orientation activities we have planned for you. Returning students: Labs and online courses will run as scheduled on your timetable. Please check Blackboard for any additional updates.
  • Owen Sound, Orillia and Orangeville campuses: Orientation activities will take place in the morning of Jan. 5, and all classes and labs will run as scheduled for all semester students.
  • Online: Orientation for semester one online classes will be held virtually from 10 to 11:30 a.m.

Here are seven reasons to check it out!

6. Set yourself up for success

Orientation events are a great time to take care of important tasks like picking up your ONEcard, checking out your classrooms, and learning about parking and student systems.

Tip: Order your ONEcard ahead of time—pick up will be available at your home campus. You need your ONEcard for many different services and supports around campus. Outside of campus, your ONEcard can also provide you with discounts, benefits, and more!
